About the Author

Walter Blasberg was born in Hawthorne, New Jersey in 1948 and graduated from the University of Vermont in 1971. He built a distinguished four-decade career in finance and investment management, founding Continental Asset Management at the Continental Insurance Companies and growing it to several billion dollars in assets under management before its acquisition by Trust Company of the West in 1994. He subsequently held Managing Director roles at TCW and Conning Asset Management in Hartford, Connecticut.

Later in his career he turned his expertise toward sustainability and climate finance, working with Swiss Reinsurance and the United Nations to develop and launch the European Clean Energy Fund in 2007 and developing the Post-2012 Carbon Credit Fund in partnership with the European Investment Bank in 2008 — a meaningful capstone to a professional life spent at the intersection of finance and innovation. He earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

He retired in 2010 and devoted the years that followed to managing the North Hero House, a beloved inn on Vermont's Lake Champlain, which he owned for twenty-six years before selling it in 2022. During his ownership he was honored with the Avery Borden Vermont Innkeeper of the Year Award by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce in 2016 and the Distinguished Service Award from the University of Vermont Alumni Association in 2014.

Today he and his partner John Dewane operate the Dodds Brickhouse Bed and Breakfast in North Hero, Vermont, welcoming guests from May through September. Walter also holds a U.S. Coast Guard Captain's License and runs Island Boat Tours out of the North Hero House Marina. Together, Walter and John founded Ángeles Para Honduras, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing education and healthcare access to impoverished children in Honduras.

An avid tennis player and former skier, Walter has two children and divides his time between North Hero, Vermont and West Palm Beach, Florida. This is his first book.
